Over the years we have had many ask us how we can work with and support so many organisations across Waterloo region. And the secret to our ability to punch above our weight is our volunteer model and the amazing people that choose to work with us.  This unique model was actually studied by Sean Goebey at the University of Waterloo, with support from the Province of Ontario, as a model that could bring a social return on investment as well as helping to bridge the skills gap for recent graduates.  At the end of April, we celebrated two things that are near and dear to SWR, Earth Day/Week and National Volunteer Week. And while a week is good for each of these, we knew that we had too many amazing volunteers to just focus on them for a week. In that spirit, I welcome you to our volunteer month! In May we will bring you the profile of just some of the faces of SWR. We will be profiling the people that generously give their time and talent to our efforts to create a clean economy locally and beyond. Watch our blog and social media for profiles of just some of our team. They work in all areas of our organisation, including our programs and our operations.  We’re excited to share with you all the awesomeness this month! Watch for faces and names of people you know, and people you are learning about for the first time. And join us in recognizing them for the amazing contributions that they make to SWR and our entire region. Tova Davidson Executive Director, Sustainable Waterloo Region
