NEW TARGET ANNOUNCEMENT - AET Group aims to reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions 100% by 2030, Absolute Target

[Waterloo, October 7] AET Group has set a 100% greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction target by 2030, supported by Sustainable Waterloo Region’s Regional Sustainability Initiative. This target will be their second GHG emission target and represents one of the most ambitious targets ever set within the program!

AET’s target is also an absolute GHG reduction target, which looks at the total emissions produced by an organization, regardless of size. They have also chosen to include optional Scope 3 emissions sources to target additional emissions from water, waste and all business-related travel (flights, personal vehicles, commuting). This commitment is one of many AET has made in partnership with Sustainable Waterloo Region, as they are also working towards a goal of 90% Waste Diversion and 30% Water Impact Reduction. They are also one of only 5 members that have already begun to track their progress against 11 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) using the SDG Action Manager since its launch in the program framework in November of 2020. These 11 goals are focused on no poverty (SDG1), ensuring and promoting good health and well-being (SDG3), gender equality (SDG5), clean water and sanitation (SDG6), affordable and clean energy (SDG7), preferment of decent work and economic growth (SDG8), sustainable cities and communities (SDG11), responsible consumption and production (SDG12), climate action (SDG13), protecting and conserving life below water (SDG14) and sustainably manage life on land (SDG15).

“Climate change is one of the most critical issues facing the world today and we believe the business community has a key role to play to make the future sustainable for our planet.  As a company that leads by example, AET is pleased to announce our commitment to net zero carbon emissions by 2030”, said Scott Freiburger, Managing Director & CEO at AET Group.  “At AET, we have already achieved net zero carbon for our head office, and I am confident we can rise to the challenge and accelerate the action needed to achieve net zero carbon emissions across all operations.  Meeting a net-zero commitment for the future requires innovating today.  AET is moving forward on this front by making its facilities more energy efficient, increasing the use of renewable energy, electric vehicle fleet upgrades and reducing commuting through a telework program.  These actions substantiate our dedication to delivering on our commitment to be net zero carbon by 2030”.

AET Group is an environmental consultancy firm committed to their ecological, financial, and social responsibilities, working together collaboratively to find innovative solutions that work and remembering that underneath it all, we’re human beings working with other human beings to make a difference both locally and globally.
