SWR’s largest event of the year is our Evening of Recognition, a night of celebration that gives us the chance to honour the amazing accomplishments of our members. It’s also an opportunity to connect with our members personally, as well as our partners and community.
In 2020, a year when so many events were forced to re-invent themselves, the pandemic prevented us from getting together as normal. This meant we had to think of new and creative ways of sharing our members’ inspiring sustainability stories.
As we negotiated the pandemic throughout 2021, we continued to deliver our programs and events virtually. This meant moving our Evening of Recognition online as well.
On May 27th, 2021, we hosted over 200 individuals from across the region at a virtual recognition event. This event featured recognition of our 2020 Award winners as well as the sustainability accomplishments of Waterloo Region. We also expressed gratitude for the incredible sponsors and grantors that help make the work of Sustainable Waterloo Region possible.
This year’s awards were created with the support of Tech Wreckers Inc. and featured refurbished laptops with custom decals that embraced our journey of the virtual workplace.
We again took to the airwaves to recognize our winners with Mike Farwell of the Mike Farwell Show. Over the course of three days, Mike and Tova had an opportunity to congratulate and speak with our winners about their sustainability journey and accomplishments.
